Ancient Traditions:

These books are hand made with an ancient style of coptic stitch binding that has origins all the way back to Egyptian culture in the 2nd century, from the age of papyrus books. 

Secret Ciphers

In another ancient tradition, each velvet spell book comes with a few letters of a cryptic font. Occasionally,  a secretive message will appear on this page like a weekly puzzle in the Sunday times for the community to attempt to solve.
(see the image below).

This secret cipher puzzle allows for each owner of the spell books to help build a piece of the puzzle’s solution as a group game while the books are eventually sold. This trick will only truly work though so long as enough people work together to reveal the necessary secrets!

As such, it is your responsibility as an owner of these mysterious books to help your fellow book keepers decipher the occasional tricky messages by sharing your pieces of the secret!
