❖ Version History ❖
September 5th-12th, 2025
At this point in time, the Renaissance Faire 2025 season has officially begun. Our booth is built, we’ve just finished up Merchant Weekend, we’ve playtested the new rulebook with new strangers, and time is absolutely flying.
We’ve set an ambitious goal for ourselves to get Royal Threadcount ready for Kickstarter launch on the first Tuesday of December. There’s… a lot to get done in this time. We have so much work in front of us. But the magic of the faire season is invigorating, and inspiration is flowing.
By chance, we actually received an email from Kirsten Vargas over at Legendary Wares recently & it told of a prototype bag design being recently completed. She relayed that a package was on the way containing this very bag:

The bag arrives in the mail. The design is spectacular. It’s tall enough to contain the game comfortably, and it has a splash color piece of fabric with a cinch that serves as a roof for the bag.
We are super happy with the look of the prototype…. but there was a detail mentioned in the spring that has never left my mind: that we could create our own fabric to use on this bag design. I was really inspired by the bags we had seen featuring the Japanese patterns, and I wanted to recreate that magic in a way that served the concepts of the gameplay as much as possible.
What better way to do this than to try and get all 12 patterns & colors that we originally chosen for the game into the fabric pattern? This would be especially meaningful because in the end we are only going to get to have x6 patterns in the game out of the 12 that we wanted, and how cool would it be if they could somehow appear on every single color within the fabric layout…
This really got me thinking, and i pulled up a huge Photoshop file to test my idea. this required a 36″x42″ starting size, repeating along the 36″ side. I began to weave my colors and patterns, adjusting everything to match as best as possible… and though it is Lisa Frank level rainbow blinding from far away, up close the design is really amazing:

The fact that this piece came out of me over the course of about two days is amazing. I honestly cannot believe how wonderfully perfect it is. Of course, I am a little bit nervous that it is not going to appear anywhere near this nice on a piece of fabric, but there’s no way of knowing that without giving it a test run!
So, I sned Kirsten an email with the pattern in tow, and tell her that I’m ready to test print the fabric for the bags. We both get really excited to see how the pattern is going to turn out… but for now all we can do is hope & wait, which means its time to start tackling our next project: The Enamel Pin Collection for Royal Threadcount! Stay tuned for our next adventure in the Librarium Games Design Journal!
