For 2-Player: Remove 10 Ferric Cards and all cards of two seasons (including rule cards), then setup the game as usual.

Count/Countess, and x2: Beasts, Changelings, Plagues, Mists

Questions About:
Card Placement

Does Changeling Have to swap?

Yes.

Any card that has the swap ability can only played when swapping with another card that is already in play.

This applies to the:
Changeling, Mist, and Plague.

When swapping, where does the swapped card go?

If you use a swapping card like the: Plague, Changeling, or Mist to swap with another card, two things take place during this action:

1. The desired card is removed from play & placed into your hand (it can be taken from any player’s field).

2. The swapping card replaces the card removed from the table.

***Note: The card taken in the swap cannot be played this turn.***

Can you use a swap card on yourself?

Yes.

So long as you have a card in play in your own Garden or Court, you may use a Changeling, Mist, or Plague on yourself to retrieve a card back to your hand.

Is: Count/Count Considered a win?

No.

Unfortunately, playing a count/count or a countess/countess does not win a round, and can’t win a game (only 1 of each per season).

does x2 weather = x4 for a row score?

Yes.

If you are somehow lucky enough to achieve having two weather cards in play at once, they do in fact double the value of a row twice.

Is it possible to get anti-swap cards?

Yes.

Anti-swap cards like the Warrior and the Archer can only be retrieved from other players in two ways:

1. Using a Mist card (because nothing can block the mist)

2. Winning a round can get you the opportunity to swap for an anti-swap card if one is available.

Questions About:
Ending Rounds

Are the points only used to score and end rounds?

Yes.

The numbers in this game are always being used toward achieving the round winning strategy of earning at least 40 points. They serve no other purpose in the game.

Can I win with a Beast, changeling, & Queen?

No.

The rule regarding “x3 Beasts / Changelings /Queens as a winning combination means achieving three of a kind, not one of each. As such, “Queen, Queen, Queen” ends a round, but “Queen, Beast, Beast” Does not.

Do I keep the card in swap if I lost?

No.

If a round is won by another player and they decide to swap cards with you at the end of a round, you do not get to retain the card you receive in the swap for your next hand.

Instead, it gets shuffled into your deck before the next round of play.

Can a player force another to win?

Yes!

One of the sneakiest strategies in Calendra is causing another player to win unexpectedly.

This can only happen with the use of the Plague or the Changeling swap.

The winning player wins the round & swaps normally, despite it being another player’s turn.

can the Ferric Ancient win a Game?

~House Rule~

The Ferric Ancient can still “Act as any card in the court to win a round or a game”. However:

When used as a “Beast, Queen, Changeling, Count or Countess” this only ends a round… but if a player can somehow get away with using the ancient of their own season with the ferric ancient to end a round, then this counts a game winning condition.
