Kimono Design Game!
Phil’s & Hayley’s thoughts
We were lucky enough to get a review copy of Royal Threadcount by Librarium Games!
The goal of the game is to collect silk and colored dye to make different sets of clothing to present to the Empress. Each turn you roll a die to determine where you place silk cubes on the board. Then you roll 4 dice to determine what materials you gain and what color dye you will get. After collecting the materials that you will spend on patterns and colors then it’s up to you to arrange the colors and patterns together to score the most points based on color and pattern combinations. The Empress even gives extra points to whoever can guess her favorite color!
We truly love small game publishers so we’re excited to give this special shout out to all the awesome people at Librarium Games. You can tell they work hard and put great care into every detail.
Royal Threadcount has some great mechanics and is an absolutely addictive puzzle. Definitely worth checking out!
“This game is really cool. I spent every turn mixing and matching my colors, patterns, and shape cards trying to decide what my favorite combination would be. I love that I get to edit the clothes right up until the end of the game before the Empress comes to judge me! ~ I will definitely be looking forward to grabbing a copy of this game!”
“I didn’t get the right colors to build my clothes around the secret that I knew… but I had a lot of fun trying to prevent other people from getting the colors that they needed! I also took great pleasure in buying up the pattern that someone else needed to prevent them from getting a better combo at the end of the game, because if I can’t win then you better believe that I’ll be taking you down with me!”
“I can’t believe you guys did the math to make this scroll happen! I didn’t quite understand it’s potency at first, but as soon as I did, I was seeing my turn options in a totally different way. It was really cool to play the first half of the game without it and then see how it changed things once it was introduced in the second half… plus it would make for such an interesting piece of wall art when you aren’t using it!”
“I think one of my favorite things about Royal Threadcount is that I really couldn’t tell who was going to win the game while we were playing. I thought that I wasn’t doing very well because I bought all the cheap patterns… but in the end of the game I won with by 1-point thanks to that color card I bought. Super cool how balanced this played!”
